About the Artist

Renée Barnes (1886–1940) was an American Impressionist and Modern artist, active in Indiana and Michigan. She painted floral still lifes, landscapes, and a beloved series of childhood-themed lithographs during the 1930s.

Her playful scenes—like Humpty Dumpty Circus, Three Happy Pigs, and Bunny Taxi Service—remain favorites among collectors for their vivid color, charming characters, and nostalgic warmth.

Though little is recorded about her personal life, Barnes's legacy lives on through her delightful storybook prints, which continue to brighten nurseries and vintage-styled homes to this day.
